1998 911 996 C2 3.4 Coupe, Manual. £16,500
88,000 miles from new.
First registered 05/03/1998
C16 UK car in eye catching Zenith blue metallic paint with dark graphite grey leather interior.
Showing just 88,000 miles this early example of the first generation Carrera 3.4 still drives like a modern car with its official figures stating it does 0-62 mph in around five seconds and tops out at 174 mph! what’s not to love?
With an extremely well stamped service book by mainly OPC until 82,000 miles and independent service work thereafter, this 996 has had continual maintenance, although it’s done relatively low mileage since 2007 to 2021 in the ownership of the it’s last registered keeper.
Factory optioned in gorgeous Zenith blue metallic (3AX) With extended graphite grey leather (CG).
8 way electric seats, passenger and driver with memory function for drivers side. Coloured crest wheel centre caps. Sun roof, PCM 1 Porsche Communication Management screen with navigation, telephone module, radio, cassette player, Draped leather front and rear seats.
This 996 is every bit a modern classic and these early C2 manual cars with original integrated amber indicator/headlamp config gives the car it’s distinct cool understated retro style. Light lenses are clear and bright and are orginal.
The bodywork on this example is generally straight and good with minimal stone chips and only a few minor blemishes, It’s paint (not all original) still retains a deep lustre and is quite striking in the sunlight. Under the bonnet it retains the factory VIN/options sticker and space saver spare.
Interior is great for it’s age with wear and tear as you would expect for a car of this era. There is a very small hole in the drivers bolster but generally all bolsters and leather is in good condition and has just been treated with the correct hide treatment leather care.
All electrics work and this car has the added bonus of memory function drivers seat. All extended leather to the door cards, dash, rear quarters etc is all in good condition, a few scuffs here and there as you would expect. There is a small dent in one rear speaker grill but minimal.
Plastics, switches and trim are in very good order and the optional and quite rare Sat Nav/PCM screen and system all working, although utilising it’s original cd nav map system.
Sun roof works as does the rear spoiler manually and at speed. Aircon all works and blasts a nice cold breeze through the cabin.
The car drives with fast pace, is firm and doesn’t rattle or judder and brakes solidly and straight. All gears select well and clutch work is as expected, firm but not heavy. Steering is tight and precise and the car feels well balanced and is a fun agile C2 manual 996 that’s spirited through the bends and great fun drive and doesn't wander on the road. It’s accurate and playful and shifts nicely though the manual gearbox as it should do.
Last oil service 25/10/2020 at 88,080 miles and recent wheel alignment check, new battery, new coded Porsche key and general ramp inspection (Please see additional notes below)
All books packs including, stamped service book, PCM booklet and leather wallet and it’s history file are all present. 2 keys.
Dateless private plate also included in the sale which gives a nice point of difference.
HPI clear and MOT until 03/11/2021 with no recent advisories
Key points of note from inspection:
From inspection, the engine appears dry with no obvious oil leaks in the usual spots.
Ref the IMS, it’s done 88,000 miles with continual regular interval oil services throughout it’s life but there is no record of any replacement IMS/RMS or a replacement clutch.
Brake callipers are ok but rusted to faces, lack of use mainly. Some brake pipes have been replaced and others are generally ok. New discs would be advised at some point but not imminent, pads and callipers ok.
Wheels are ok but would be nice to powder coat them as there is bubbling to the paint. All of the tyres have an ok amount of tread but are all mismatched brands. Centre caps are also in need of replacing.
Exhaust manifold bolts corroded and weld to one side of the offside exhaust/muffler/silencer box seam but ok. The nearside has been replaced at some point.
Slight whine from gearbox/transmission but all gears shift absolutely fine.
Slight delay/lazy starter motor can be intermittent and probably on its way out, will need replacing at some point.
This 996 is a decent basis for ongoing work, still relatively low mileage for it’s age, a lovely colour and currently driver quality with room for improvement that can be enjoyed as is. It’s a nice straight car that has aged well cosmetically but will need some time and money invested to keep on top of.
Being sold as an ongoing project/trade sale with no warranty implied.
Delivery included in the asking price up to 250 miles
